I’m always glad to see the butterflies in my garden, mostly swallowtails and gulf fritillaries. This morning, a species appeared that I had never seen before–a Zebra Longwing, black with white stripes.

Later I learned that a friend who had been in hospice care had passed away. I looked up the meaning of black butterflies on this site, and now I’m convinced my friend was passing through to say goodbye.
